Morphology of Dreams
A large body of work exploring the idea of metamorphosis through an ensemble of imaginary characters.
These dysmorphic illusions are entirely created in camera exposing through water. The liquid medium acts as a transporting device, a getaway to a fluid reality where notions of perception and identity are subverted. The resulting photographs portray shape-shifting creatures embodying processes of psychological transformation. Simultaneously alluring and unsettling, these images tap into the symbolic language of dreams to reveal a mysterious world of childlike wonder and dark motifs. The emotional content translates into a personal iconography that draws influence from surrealism, classic cinema, mythology, and science fiction.
“… a distant land, a forest, a kingdom underground, beneath the waves, or above the sky, a secret island, lofty mountain top, or profound dream state; but it is always a place of strangely fluid and polymorphous beings, unimaginable torments, superhuman deeds, and impossible delight.” - Joseph Campbell
